A great start to the New Year
Back once again, Hat-Club returns to the London shores by way of the seOne super club. This had been long in coming and eagerly anticipated since the massive 3rd birthday at the now defunct ghost town of The Cross (RIP).
Following on from the many successes of 2007 in London and of course the shenanigans in and around various venues around the UK, this is a new dawn. It’s a new year and the blood certainly still courses through Hat-Club’s veins. So what better way to kick off the antics than to enter the massive warren that is seOne club.

Steeped within the alcoves behind London Bridge Station, the numbers of eager head appendaged clubbers told its own story as the hatter’s waited ‘patiently’ for entry. The venue has a potential to hold an enormous following within its 30,000 sq. ft. but with just two of the venues room’s open for Hat-Club, the numbers were hitting 850 plus. That’s an awful lot of hats. Outside the desire for new designs both standard crazy, and simply ingenious hats showed as the line up had a pied piper effect on the beckoning crowd.

Headlining was the legendary Ibiza Space resident Jonathan Ulysses who was celebrating his birthday in style (I’m sure he didn’t have to worry about Hat-Club’s free entry for birthdays policy!) Also on the bill, Hat-Club resident Filthy Rich was dishing out his amalgam of tech house and techno. New on the bill are The BeatThiefs now residents in their own right who’ve only debuted at the Clapham event alongside Prok & Fitch who you can normally catch in Brighton.

As if this wasn’t enough it seems the crowds ear drums could take more as DJ Roo, Nick Piper, Just Justin, and Vince Frimpong spilt their latest wares from the upgraded sound system. You were also in for a treat if you caught Danna performing her live PA which got many a Hat-donning reveller crooning.

It was a massive event and a successful one to boot as the need for Hat-Clubbing was firmly re-established through the sheer numbers and energy throughout the venue. The events themselves will be going strong throughout 2008.

Although one week ago now, I'm sure no one has forgotten Hat-Club's first London event of the year. It seriously rocked.
