A new era is upon us at the jaw-droppingly beautiful and opulent, RS Lounge in East London. This recently rejuvenized nightspot is attracting some of the hottest promoters in clubland, including Stereo Sushi, Pukka Up, Azuli and Kinky Malinki - a stunning plethora of promoters for a stunning place. But for now, THIS Friday, we give you the Hat Club. Sssshhhh..... Don't tell anyone....(!)

So, where did the name Hat Club come from?
After wearing hats out clubbing, a small group of us wanted to start a night and thought about a theme. We decided on hats! Hat Club was born.
How long have you been running?
We started in November 2004.

Are you surprised by how well it's gone?
I think, the theme - coupled with great DJs - is the reason why it's become an international success. People like something different and like to dress up - So, yeah, I'm very pleased with how well it's gone.
What’s been the proudest moment in your professional life so far?
Hat Club's success, of course!!!

What productions/releases have you got coming up?
We have got some exclusive releases coming out through our residents, Prok & Fitch.
What did you do for your last birthday and when was your birthday?
It was in November 2007 - at the now-defunct Cross nightclub..... :o(

What's the weirdest thing that's ever happened to you in a club?
I've had to change a light bulb!!!
What's the best night out you've ever had?
Blimey, there've been so many, but Cocoon last year was pretty damn good!!!

So, what's your favourite record of all time?
Gadjo - 'So Many Times'.
What's the worst Hat Club gig you ever had?
One in Hamburg springs to mind. No-one spoke any English. It was really hard to promote!

What happened the last time you embarrassed yourself?
I went red!
What can't you live without?
Wine.

Before you were a promoter, what was the worst job you’d ever had?
I used to sell Sky TV packages.
What was the last record you bought?
That would have to be Sister Bliss' new album.

Who or what are your musical influences?
Any genres are fine with me. But good house wins.
If you had a time machine, where would you go and why?
I would have used it to get to the front of the queue whilst outside a nightclub - before I was involved in clubland as a promoter.

What do you make of the new RS Lounge?
I'm very impressed. It's beautiful.

And, finally, what else is lined up for Hat Club for the next calendar year?
We've got more International tours and a new compilation album coming soon....

Thanks for that, Dave. We look forward to welcoming you to the launch of Rising Fridays at the RS Lounge and are thrilled to have you on board. Don't worry, I won't publish this interview. I'll... erm... keep it under my hat.
